Care to Dance Bearded Iris

Care to Dance Bearded Iris

24-36" tall x 18" wide. Care to Dance Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) wakes up the mid-to-late spring garden with colorful, large flowers on 24-36" stems. Three raspberry red falls (downward petals) with creamy rose centers are highlighted by a lavender ruffled edge. The bright orange beards light up the pure white standards (upward petals) that rise above, giving the flower an almost glowing effect. The big blooms harmonize nicely with other Bearded Iris – try some lavender, raspberry, or tangerine colors to really make the flowers pop. They're also beautiful with Oriental Poppies, Peonies, or evergreen shrubs. Plant Care to Dance rhizomes (bulbs) in well-draining soil in a mostly sunny spot. Fertilize with bone meal in the fall and an organic bulb food in spring. Pinch spent flowers and cut the flower stems back when flowering is done to let the spear-shaped foliage add a vertical element to the garden bed. These deer and rabbit resistant plants are easy-care choices for the busy gardener.
